January dev update

Hey everyone!

We figured it was time for another (dev) update!

In our last update, we mentioned that we’d finished the final round of server upscaling to stabilize everything. Happy to report that this seems to have done the trick, we haven’t seen any issues since. If that’s not the case for you, please let us know so we can take a look.

So, what have we been up to since then? Quite a lot behind the scenes.

We’ve essentially reworked how we store game data entirely. This was a big job, but a critical change to make sure we can keep delivering the best darting experience possible as the platform continues to grow.

This work is now finished and scheduled to be released soon. You shouldn’t notice anything on your end, but it puts us in a much better place for future growth.

Because of this major change, we temporarily had to disable:

  • resetting statistics
  • deleting individual matches
  • verifying matches

Good news: this work is now complete and currently being tested, which means these features will be enabled again very soon.

We’ve also tracked down a long-standing issue where cameras could sometimes drop out unexpectedly. This is actively being worked on, and a fix will be included in the upcoming release.

Action Replays… are still a bit stubborn. We’ve been making improvements here as well, and those changes will also roll out in the next release.

What’s next?

Once this update is out, one of our main focus points will be tournaments. We know they’re not where we want them to be yet.

One of the biggest complaints we hear is players being dropped because they didn’t respond in time. We’re taking a hard look at the current system to see what needs to change to make tournaments more reliable and streamlined.

On top of that, we want to give tournament moderators better and easier-to-use tools to manage their events.

And yes... we haven’t forgotten about the status page. That’s still coming too

As always, thanks for being part of this amazing community, and we hope to see you on the oche soon!

If you run into anything weird, feedback and bug reports are always welcome.
