Play darts with an external camera setup in DartCounter
Take your darts experience to the next level with the DartCounter External Camera setup. Stream your dartboard live while you score in the app and create a fair, interactive and professional playing experience. Whether you’re competing online or playing locally.
When playing online against opponents from around the world, a live camera feed ensures fair play and complete transparency, with every throw visible in real time. The external camera setup is the focus of this guide, but DartCounter also supports your device’s built-in camera and solutions such as Target’s VIRT. You can not only use it during online games, but also during local games. You can use the camera to capture Action Replays, allowing you to relive your best darts moments.
How to Play Darts with an External Camera
To use the DartCounter external camera option, you need two devices:
Device 1: The device you use to create your game and enter scores in the DartCounter app.
Device 2: The device you use as your dartboard camera.
Step 1: Enable the External Camera in the DartCounter app
On Device 1:
- Open the DartCounter app and go to ‘Play Online’ or ‘Play Local’
- Tap the camera icon in the top right corner
- Select external camera and press continue
You are now ready to connect your dartboard stream.
Step 2: Start Your Dartboard Camera Stream
On Device 2:
- Open your browser and go to https://darts.camera
- Allow the browser to access your camera. If you are using a physical external webcam, make sure it is recognised and selected in your browser’s camera settings
- Once the camera preview appears, click activate this camera.
- A unique code and password will be displayed on your screen.
Step 3: Connect Your Camera to DartCounter
- Return to Device 1 and enter the code and password shown on Device 2
- Select connect and your dartboard stream will appear in the app
- Press save to confirm
You are now ready to start your online darts match with a live camera feed or record your Action Replays, both online and in local games.
Important: Prevent Your Camera from Disconnecting
Keep the browser tab with the active camera stream on Device 2 open during your darts match. Closing the tab may cause the live dartboard stream to stop.
