Bob’s 27: Darts Rules

Bob’s 27 is a well-known darts training game developed by former world champion Bob Anderson. It is designed to practice doubles and recreate the pressure of finishing in a real match. The game is often experienced as a challenging training drill, but is one of the most effective ways to improve your double darts accuracy. Bob’s 27 is an effective way to build confidence when a finish really matters.

How to play Bob’27 darts works

Bob’s 27 starts with a score of 27 points. You throw three darts at Double 1, then move on to Double 2, and continue in order all the way up to Double 20 (tops). The final target is the Bullseye.

Scoring in Bob’s 27

The scoring is simple and strict:

  • Hit the double: you add the value of the double to your total score.
For example, hitting Double 6 scores you 12 points (2x6)
  • Miss all three darts: the value of the double gets subtracted from your total score.

Difference between Doubles Training and Bob’s 27

Both Bob’s 27 and Doubles Training are popular darts practice games to improve your doubles. Doubles Training is a focused drill where you must hit the target double before you can move on. You keep aiming for the same double until you hit it. Each time you hit the target, you score 1 point.

Bob’s 27 adds more pressure. You throw three darts at each double and then move on to the next, even if you miss. Scoring is based on that double’s value. Hitting Double 6 adds 12, while missing all three darts on Double 6 subtracts 12 from your total. Play either easy or hard mode to match your skills and required challenge.

Improve your darts finishing game with Bob’s 27

Bob’s 27 is all about practising doubles under pressure. In x01 games, doubles are decisive for winning a leg, so training them is essential. Bob’s 27 adds real match tension because three misses cost you points, just like they can cost you a leg in competition.
